I have been a radio and mobile DJ for 20+ years, I am very eclectic, versatile and able to read any type of crowd. Being eclectic is my strong point. Since I provide services for all types of events ranging in ages I know what all age groups like.
Reading a crowd is like an art and this is what I do best. Anyone can play songs or come up with a play-list but the art is knowing what songs to play, when to play them and how to mix them all together. This helps people feel a certain way and encourages them to express it on the dance floor. The same could be said for visual artists. Everyone has access to colors, brushes and canvasses but only people with a trained eye can take those tools to create a work of art.
I take what I do seriously but know how to party. In other words, I take partying seriously! :-) I can take your ideas and match them with my skills to turn your vision into a reality. If you need help to create a great party I'll be more than happy to assist.
Unlike a majority of DJ's I don't have another job and do this on the side, this is ALL I do. I am liability insured, I have back-up equipment and in the very unlikely case of a serious illness I also have a back-up DJ on standby as well. In addition to providing DJ services I also offer karaoke and many lighting solutions for your event. If you want skill and knowledge and just want things done right, I'm your DJ.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Erik de Klerk as our DJ for our wedding, and he truly exceeded all expectations! From the beginning, communication with Erik was seamless-he was quick to respond, incredibly helpful, and genuinely supportive throughout our entire planning process. He took the time to meet with us over Zoom and thoughtfully walked through every detail of our timeline, ensuring nothing was overlooked.
On the day of the wedding, Erik was phenomenal. He flawlessly followed all the music cues and played a key role in keeping the event flowing smoothly. Several of our guests even complimented how well he handled the music during the refreshment hour and dinner. I could not have asked for a better DJ and MC than Erik. He was an 11/10. For our wedding he made the whole evening run so smoothly. It was obvious that this was not his first rodeo. He was very professional and personable. His humor and quick wittedness made the night even more enjoyable than it was already! His rates are some of the most reasonable in the business. Especially compared to some of the djs like, my coworkers wedding, that is 2,000 minimum. Anyways, I could not say enough good things about Erik. If you have a wedding or party that you want to run smoothly and be an absolute blast, Erik’s your guy.

Erik is amazing and a consummate professional! I would love to work with him again! My only suggestion would be to set up a standardized file share system, i uploaded my custom songs to google drive, but i bet if the system was all worked out on your end (maybe a web based FTP system) it would be a lot easier on the DJ. |

Can't say enough. Arrived on time and was set up as requested by 12:00pm ready to go! I feel very fortunate to have found him as I interviewed several people who responded to my needs for a DJ on that date and he was by far the most friendly on the phone and very affordable rates. I believe the DJ already met with my Principal to discuss song choices, so this issue is likely already resolved. Song choice would be the only thing that needs to be modified for future events. We have a Middle School audience in a farily conservative community, so song choices cannot include vulgar language or themes. We do, however want the music to be current, so there is a fine line and in the future advance planning will fix this issue. |

ABOUT:
In early '89 Jesse moved to Lynnwood, Washington with his Mom and shortly after relocated to a house where his family still lives today in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Jesse completed grade school at Mountlake Terrace Elementary and middle school at Madrona. By the fifth grade he would set a goal, which would impact his life today. Music and entertainment has always been a part of his life. Jesse’s interest in the radio industry began at the age of 11 after meeting a radio announcer, Tony Thomas of KMPS in Seattle. At that point in his life he could only dream of announcing or mixing music to an audience, but someday he hoped to make it a reality. It wasn’t until November of ’94, Jesse’s freshmen year at Mountlake Terrace High School that he really started following up on the idea of becoming a Radio Announcer/DJ. His counselor mentioned to him that Mountlake Terrace High School offered a radio and television production class in which students actually ran the schools radio station, (89.1 FM) and television station, known throughout Mountlake Terrace High School as The Hawk Broadcasting Network (HBN). Jesse was reluctant to join the class, because it took away from his free time, but he gave it a shot, and ended up sticking with it his entire four years at Mountlake Terrace High. His sophomore year Jesse also became the “Off-Camera Announcer” for the morning announcements on HBN. His freshmen year also received the “Most Improved” award in Concert Choir, all this was quite an achievement for a teenager who could barely talk going into high school. Jesse was heavily involved on the radio end of the class, producing three hour shows from ’97 to ’99, his Junior and Senior year in high school. Jesse was in charge of the early morning “Drive Time” show. In ’99 Jesse also completed an internship with Paul Anthony at KBKS FM, “Kiss 106.1” in Seattle. Jesse also spoke at his grade school, Mountlake Terrace Elementary as a student role model two years in a row and was awarder “The Citizenship Award” from Mountlake Terrace High School. For his Senior Application Project Jesse interned with a mobile DJ company in Seattle and played a dance for his high school, Mountlake Terrace. He continued his daily radio shows on Mountlake Terrace High’s low power FM Station, which was the driving force behind him in High School. After graduating high school Jesse attended Edmonds Community College, where he took a couple general courses, but nothing that really kept his attention. In May of 2000 Jesse was inspired to “check out” the Audio Sound Technologies Certification Course at Bates Technical College. The following day he visited Bates Downtown Campus and toured the Audio Sound Technologies Course. With the help of his family, within weeks he had relocated to Tacoma's Hill Top area to attend Bates Technical College, where he earned a certification in Audio/Sound Technologies. In early 2001 Jesse took a Board Op Position with Sandusky Radio/KWJZ, then in early July of ’01 he moved to Olympia to land a job with KGY in Olympia. Four months later he was offered another job with South Sound Broadcasting/KAYO, also in the Olympia area. In June of 2003 Jesse was invited to a local establishment to celebrate his birthday, and once again he was inspired. This time by Dave Gary, the bars DJ. Jesse returned home, made a couple phone calls, sent several e-mail’s, did some networking and within weeks he was back to spinning CD’s and keeping the party moving. Shortly after Jesse invested in his own DJ gear and started playing for Briggs YMCA’s Teen/Late Night. Since 2004 Jesse has been in the mobile DJ business located in the Olympia area and played many venues. It was these experiences, his love of music and the industry that caused Jesse Strek to fully evolve into D.J.

Downloading the playlist selections from the greatratedj website was rather slow and cumbersome. Many popular songs were not available. I finally created my own excel spreadsheet with my top 100 songs for my DJ to choose from and emailed it to him directly. Much easier this way. |

ABOUT:
In early '89 Jesse moved to Lynnwood, Washington with his Mom and shortly after relocated to a house where his family still lives today in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Jesse completed grade school at Mountlake Terrace Elementary and middle school at Madrona. By the fifth grade he would set a goal, which would impact his life today. Music and entertainment has always been a part of his life. Jesse’s interest in the radio industry began at the age of 11 after meeting a radio announcer, Tony Thomas of KMPS in Seattle. At that point in his life he could only dream of announcing or mixing music to an audience, but someday he hoped to make it a reality. It wasn’t until November of ’94, Jesse’s freshmen year at Mountlake Terrace High School that he really started following up on the idea of becoming a Radio Announcer/DJ. His counselor mentioned to him that Mountlake Terrace High School offered a radio and television production class in which students actually ran the schools radio station, (89.1 FM) and television station, known throughout Mountlake Terrace High School as The Hawk Broadcasting Network (HBN). Jesse was reluctant to join the class, because it took away from his free time, but he gave it a shot, and ended up sticking with it his entire four years at Mountlake Terrace High. His sophomore year Jesse also became the “Off-Camera Announcer” for the morning announcements on HBN. His freshmen year also received the “Most Improved” award in Concert Choir, all this was quite an achievement for a teenager who could barely talk going into high school. Jesse was heavily involved on the radio end of the class, producing three hour shows from ’97 to ’99, his Junior and Senior year in high school. Jesse was in charge of the early morning “Drive Time” show. In ’99 Jesse also completed an internship with Paul Anthony at KBKS FM, “Kiss 106.1” in Seattle. Jesse also spoke at his grade school, Mountlake Terrace Elementary as a student role model two years in a row and was awarder “The Citizenship Award” from Mountlake Terrace High School. For his Senior Application Project Jesse interned with a mobile DJ company in Seattle and played a dance for his high school, Mountlake Terrace. He continued his daily radio shows on Mountlake Terrace High’s low power FM Station, which was the driving force behind him in High School. After graduating high school Jesse attended Edmonds Community College, where he took a couple general courses, but nothing that really kept his attention. In May of 2000 Jesse was inspired to “check out” the Audio Sound Technologies Certification Course at Bates Technical College. The following day he visited Bates Downtown Campus and toured the Audio Sound Technologies Course. With the help of his family, within weeks he had relocated to Tacoma's Hill Top area to attend Bates Technical College, where he earned a certification in Audio/Sound Technologies. In early 2001 Jesse took a Board Op Position with Sandusky Radio/KWJZ, then in early July of ’01 he moved to Olympia to land a job with KGY in Olympia. Four months later he was offered another job with South Sound Broadcasting/KAYO, also in the Olympia area. In June of 2003 Jesse was invited to a local establishment to celebrate his birthday, and once again he was inspired. This time by Dave Gary, the bars DJ. Jesse returned home, made a couple phone calls, sent several e-mail’s, did some networking and within weeks he was back to spinning CD’s and keeping the party moving. Shortly after Jesse invested in his own DJ gear and started playing for Briggs YMCA’s Teen/Late Night. Since 2004 Jesse has been in the mobile DJ business located in the Olympia area and played many venues. It was these experiences, his love of music and the industry that caused Jesse Strek to fully evolve into D.J.
