I have 10 years experience with Weddings, Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, School functions, Lounges, Coffee Shops, Country Clubs, New Year's Eve Parties, Christmas Celebrations, Private Parties, Restaurants, Kiddie-Oke, and karaoke contests.
I am a professional DeeJay & Karaoke Host prepared to bring that perfect touch to your party and show your guests a wonderful time. Give me your itinerary and I'll follow it to the letter.
A constant in the Pierce County karaoke trade over many years is Rose Collazo. This very multitalented lady has stayed under the radar in long, continuing gigs, and is now in the process of making herself more available. An interviewer for a Puget Sound Karaoke magazine caught up with Rose and asked her a few questions.
Rose, where are you from originally? Tacoma , WA .
Zodiac Sign: Pisces.
Marital status: Divorced.
What do you do for work? Karaoke Hostess, Web Master, and Mom to seven.
Stage name/nickname: "Karaoke lady."
How did you get the nickname? "Oh, you're the karaoke lady," people say when they meet me outside of work. I'll just nod and smile. That's me.
How long have you been hosting karaoke? Eight years;
What type of music do you enjoy singing? Fast, upbeat songs. If a song resonates with me, whatever the type, I will learn it.
Favorite songs to sing? "Whatever You Say"; "Rhythm Of The Night"; "El Debarge"; or anything Smokey Robinson sings.
To listen to? "Check It Out" by Beyonce; "Buttons" by the Pussycat Dolls.
Favorite performers? Pink Floyd, Shania Twain and Rob Thomas.
CD in your car now? None - radio tuned to 100.7, Wolf Country.
Do you play any instruments? Basic piano, and learning guitar.
Ever sung with groups or bands? No, too busy raising kids.
Ever sung professionally? Just karaoke hosting.
The largest crowd you've sung in front of? About 400 when I did little theater musicals years ago.
Ever enter any karaoke contests? Yes, one.
What did you win? A T-shirt, some cool shot glasses, and free drinks.
If you could sing with anyone, who would it be? Gladys Knight.
Why? Awesome voice, and still quite popular.
Most famous person you've ever met? Janet Jackson.
How did it happen? I was working at the Tacoma Dome in security, and a group of us escorted her and a few of her band members from the bus to the Dome. Miss Jackson said "hello" to each one of us, and personally thanked us.
Do you have any musical fantasy(s)? They involve having fun, singing and everyone dancing.
Any memorable karaoke stories? I hosted a pajama karaoke party, and everyone was dressed in their jammies. One gentleman had long PJ bottoms on under his robe when he showed up. Halfway into the evening the bottoms disappeared from under his robe. He kept trying to get my attention and was fiddling with his robe. Needless to say, that was my last karaoke PJ party.
What do I enjoy most about karaoke? The camaraderie, the people's enjoyment.
What do you dislike most? Bad service, rude people, and intolerance
If you could improve karaoke? I'd pass around a "tolerance pill." And, I'd get some of the systems out there to sound better.
Tattoo(s)? Yes, one - always covered.
Beverage of choice? Coffee Nudge.
What's the nicest thing you've done for a stranger? Gave him money.

Ed Barrett and his crew of DJs has done dozens and dozens of events since 1989. His mission statement is simple..."When The Music Counts, You Can Count On Us".
Our sound system can pilot a small band and is comprised of quality components including Crown, Mackie, BBE, and Community. The sound is big but is also incredibly clear where you can hear each instrument individually and is not meshed together. The setup for this show is normally 90 minutes and really looks impressive when finished. All music has been 100% digitally mastered and is delivered in rich full sound. We carry well over 40,000 song titles to every show which includes music of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and current hits of today...partnering with Top Hits USA to bring you the hottest music. Categories cover Adult Contemporary/Soft Rock, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative, Disco/Dance, Country and Pop. Hip Hop and Rap is offered but is generally not played at an event unless specifically instructed to do so by you the client. Guests in your party will not be able to request this category unless you give permission. All music is radio version safe that is played out over the incredible sound system.
We will arrive to set up about 2 hours before the scheduled start time and don't charge extra for this. We usually allow 90 minutes to set up. If you need us to set up earlier than that, just let us know in advance.
Lights are available but the emphasis of my show is the sound and selection of music and not the lighting.
Whether you get me or one of the other fantastic DJs I work with you will receive excellent customer service, Professional Sound System, Music Library and Wireless Microphones. We are all well trained, experienced and will be capable of making announcements and helping to orchestrate and facilitate your event. In many cases it is appropriate for the DJ to act as a Master Of Ceremonies and that is not a problem either. We recommend that you ask when comparing our rates with our competition; it is becoming a standard practice to charge extra if you want the DJ to make announcements. We do not charge additionally for this service.

the only thing I can think of is letting us know how much equipment is comming with a picture because it was alot more than I ever thought and I would have felt bad if our space was to small, but it wase'nt and he did a great job with it. |

The sound quality was bad. Volume was fine, but sounded muffled. Couldn't understand song lyrics. Many guests commented on lack of sound quality. |

Incorporating more of our selections into the dancing would have been nice. I don't remember picking alot of the songs he had played, but overall, we had a good time. Ed really helped me keep things on track as far as timing of the reception. |

The timing was off when the ceremony was over. The music was way delayed and so it didn't work out like we had talked. Watching it back on video, it was awkward. |
