Rob was fun to have and overall we had a great time, however a few guests commented he was a little too personal when dancing with the guests at the party. Also didn't have the biggest music selection for requests, but we didn't give him any song lists beforehand so that might have been our fault.

I grew up in Edmonds Washington. I graduated form Edmonds Sr High School in 1985.. I have been a musician all my life and enjoy all types of music.

I have played in all sorts of bands from heavy metal, top 40 to the church worship team.. I just love to play music!

I started getting burned out on playing with other people due to the fact that they never are reliable.(musicians here) and started working with the idea of karaoke. So I put together a system and off I went. I have done everything from bars and clubs to Kids Karaoke Parties!!
Kids sing better than most adults do!! They are not afraid to go up and sing and never complain about their performance..I love children!!! They are by far what makes this job GREAT!

I am just a big kid myself and love to make a fool out of me..An Entertaining fool that is!
So I am a HAM and a side of Green eggs....

When I was a Jr. in high school I got my first set of turntables for Christmas. Then I started DJing anything from House parties to school dances. My senior year I started interning at Live 104.5 in downtown Spokane. There I learned how to run radio boards and I would get to go inside clubs and set up the DJs equipment for them and then I got to watch and learn different mixing and scratching techniques from a few different DJs, and even get to mix when they wanted a break. I did that for about two years until I became an actual on air personality. I took a break from DJing for the past year or so, I moved to Mississippi but I just moved back to Spokane and I'm ready to get back into it.

SOUND EQUIPMENT:
The speakers you see here I use for smaller events. They're pretty good for house parties and things like that. I have a bigger set that's in storage that comes with a large sub woofer and two bigger speakers. That set is good for pretty much anything such as outside events and high schools gyms.

LIGHTING:
I myself do not own any lighting. A good friend of mine owns a number of different lights and he would be willing to let me use them.

MICROPHONES:
I have one microphone with a long cord. I do have access to wireless microphones if needed.

EVENT TYPES:
I'm pretty comfortable with anything, I've done western styled parties with country music themes, techno parties and even poppy squeaky clean middle school dances.

MUSIC:
I try to keep a variety such as Hip-Hop, Pop, Electro, Rock, Alternative, Mash-Ups and a little bit of country. I guess I'm most comfortable with top 40 just cuz that's what I get requests for mostly.

Biography

Matthew C. Seymour Known as MC Seymour Smiles can be quite the entertainer. He was a college mascot, where he won several awards for his superior creativity and skill. He continued to share his enthusiasm with several professional sports teams. He is very energetic, and loves to help others to smile. He has the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds. When he talks to people for the first time, he treats them as life long friends. Along the way, Matt turned to Radio. His first day on the job was filling in for the morning show on 107.5 KASH Country in Anchorage, Alaska. He came to Seattle for family reasons, and has since worked for nearly half the stations in Seattle. He is one of the original staff members of Seattle's New MOViN 92.5 and is now involved behind the scenes with KING-FM. He has a passion for music of all types. Music is in his heart, and it speaks to his soul. He loves to sing. He has learned to play many instruments. He writes music and has directed many music groups from choirs to orchestra. He continually listens to several styles of music and has favorite songs in all genres. As a DJ, Matt brings an infectious smile, a passion for music, and a love of people to everywhere he goes. He is known for starting a song, jumping out on the floor, dancing with everyone else, then running back to start the next song. He is very flexible, and can adapt to the needs of the crowd. He has the ability to be the "entertainer" for the evening, but he is most comfortable keeping the music going without making himself the center of attention. He may not be a "perfect" DJ, but he is a Very Good DJ. He really knows music. His biggest challenge is fitting ten hours of really good music in a five hour event. There is just never enough time to get to all the music.

By the time the DJ Matt reminded us, half our guests had already left. This was entirely our fault but it would have been nice to be reminded earlier in the evening so we didn't have so much wasted cake but again, not his fault. Lots of people commented on how nice and fun Matt was. He was 100% professional and did everything I requested--I couldn't possibly have any complaints. I'd recommend him to anyone and I feel like I got a lot more than my money's worth. Also, the staff went above and beyond in answering all my emails and questions. I felt like I was in control and informed of the whole DJ process.

Music and entertaining is my passion making the past 10 years that I've been in radio and a mobile DJ fly by! I've worked on-air for KGRG & KMIH (Hot Jamz Radio) and helped program 1330 AM KENU. I also have a lot of technical experience by working as an engineer for a major radio company in Seattle dealing with computer automation programs, audio equipment, transmission equipment, remote live broadcast equipment and more. In addition I've also worked as a producer for a nationally syndicated radio program heard on hundreds of broadcast facilities nation-wide.

Becoming a mobile DJ was a natural fit for me and I started shortly after getting into radio. I love getting to meet new people and to travel to new places. Unlike radio which has become overly structured on how music is played, a mobile DJ requires a more "Natural Talent" as it is up to the DJ to pick and choose the right mix of songs to bring a party to life. I love the live interaction and the thrill of watching people enjoy themselves as part of a service I am providing. Another fun aspect of being a mobile DJ are the many different types of parties I am hired for. It's never the same show twice so this job never gets boring! Simply put, I love what I do and feel fortunate that I was able to make a career out of it. The first 10 years have been a blast and I don't expect anything less looking forward into the future.

ABOUT: James DeGroff is a full service DJ offering Karaoke, Sound Systems, Light Shows, and Interaction for any event.

I realize that your dance is a very special occasion. That is why I listen to you, and work with you, to make sure you get the dance of your dreams. I've been serving the Olympia, black lighting james degroff 5 Tacoma, Aberdeen, Ocean Shores and Seattle areas, as well as all of Western Washington since 1996. Here is just some of what you get when you hire me:

Experience: I have worked hundreds if not thousands of parties and developed the skills and flair that guests love. This is my profession, not a hobby or part-time job.

Excellence: I take my profession seriously. I am committed to finding new and better ways to entertain. Plus you always get entertainment done the way you like it, because I listen to you. My attention to detail is the key to my success, and the success of your event.

Customer Service: With customer service second to none, your event will turn out just as you have always dreamed.

Interaction: With an interactive DJ, you not only get all of your favorite music, but you get a DJ who can lead/teach various dances and games, as well as a DJ who can "read" the crowd and will vary the program accordingly.

Energy: My shows are packed with energy and excitement. Your guests will feel it. I know how to get your guests out of their seats, and onto the dance floor.

Equipment: Mine is state of the art, the best around. Back-up equipment and DJ's are always available in case of an emergency.

James was great, read the group really well kept everyone dancing. Incorporated all events planned bu bride and groom. Was very responsive and helpful when asked to advixe group of up and coming activities.

Somehow ther was a slip up in the time schedule, announced dinner 15 minutes early but our great caterer made it happen anyway.

JAMES DEGROFF RESPONSE: As far as the catering being announced early, I checked with them, and they said they were ready. I never announce that dinner is ready until I check with them, and yes, they did say they were ready early, so I announced it.
